FAMILY SUPPORT AND THE LEVEL OF HAPPINESS AMONG THE ELDERLY PEOPLE IN BULELENG

Background: Various problems that occur in the elderly have a negative impact on the elderly, such as the emergence of feelings of loneliness and feeling unappreciated. Negative feelings are felt as a result of the lack of family social interaction carried out by the elderly, especially when a spouse or relative who dies, lives separately from family, does not have meaningful activities in daily life. The importance of family support for the elderly can increase the meaning of life for the elderly which leads to positive life goals so as to achieve a sense of satisfaction and happiness. Purpose: This study explore the correlation between family support and the level of happiness among the elderly in Banjar Dinas Pasek, Tajun Village, Buleleng. Method: This study was a quantitative method with a descriptive correlational design utilizing a cross sectional approach. The sample included 44 elderly respondents aged between 60-74 years old in Banjar Dinas Pasek, Tajun Buleleng Village, selected through a non-probability purposive sampling sampling method. Results: Data analysis using Sperman Rank obtained p value of 0.002 (p <0.05), it was concluded there was a correlation between family support and the level of happiness among the elderly in Banjar Dinas Pasek, Tajun Buleleng Village. Conclusion: Family support plays a vital role in enhancing the happiness of the elderly. This underscores the importance of continuous support and motivation from family members to ensure the elderly's contentment and prosperity in their later years.
