THE RELATIONSHIP OF FARMERS' CHARACTERISTICS TO KNOWLEDGE OF PESTICIDE POISONING EMERGENCY MEASURES AMONG FARMERS IN BRATI

Background; Pesticide poisoning is a public health problem in various developing countries where insect poison is accidentally inhaled, swallowed, or absorbed into the skin. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in 2018, in 2018, there were 1-5 million cases of pesticide poisoning among agricultural workers with a death rate of 22,000. In 2019, the number of pesticide poisoning incidents in Indonesia was 334 cases, in Daresan Katekan Hamlet, Brati District, public knowledge before being given public health education did not know how to handle pesticide poisoning with the incidence of 2 people having experienced pesticide poisoning with mild symptoms. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between farmer characteristics and knowledge of emergency action for pesticide poisoning among farmers in Daresan Katekan Hamlet, Brati District. Methodology; This research used a cross sectional design with a sample size of 124 using simple random sampling techniques. Results; The research results have a p-value < α (0.05), meaning that there is no relationship between respondent characteristics and knowledge of emergency measures for pesticide poisoning among farmers in Daresan Katekan Hamlet, Brati District. Conclusion; There is no relationship between farmer characteristics and knowledge of emergency action for pesticide poisoning among farmers in Daresan Katekan hamlet, Brati District.
