THE EFFECT OF REFLECTIONAL MASSAGE ON REDUCING BLOOD PRESSURE IN HYPERTENSION PATIENTS IN BABADAN VILLAGE, SITIMULYO DISTRICT KAPANEWON PIYUNGAN

Background: Aging causes structural and functional changes in arterial blood vessels. Stiff arteries make decrease in capacitance and recoil, resulting in increased blood pressure (Oliveros, et. al., 2019). Complementary therapies that use to lower blood pressure is reflexology massage. Purpose: To determine the difference in mean blood pressure in hypertensive patients between the intervention group and the control group in Babadan Village Method: This research uses true experimental design. Intervention is given 3x in 1 week with 30 minutes. Results: Data analysis results Mann Whitney test show pvalue > 0.05, Ha is rejected and Ho is accepted. Conclusion: There was no significant difference between the mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure in the intervention group and control group before and after treatment. Increasing frequency and adding massage location points refer to healing points for hypertension and add specific points related to cholesterol, collaborating reflexology massage therapy with other complementary therapies.
