Abstract

Background: Hypertension is one of the diseases that is the biggest risk factor for death (Nuranti et al., 2020). Hypertension still occupies the largest proportion of all NCDs reported in Central Java, namely 57.10% (Sakinah, Rejeki, and Nurlaela, 2021). Data from the Grobogan District Office in 2022 recorded 171,106 people with a prevalence of 38.20% receiving health services with complaints of hypertension. The majority of hypertension incidents occur in the elderly, namely 54.60% (Riskesdas 2018). Non-pharmacological measures are needed to lower blood pressure, one of which is wet cupping therapy at the Al Kahil point. Purpose: to determine the effect of wet cupping therapy at the Al Kahil point on reducing blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension in Grobogan district. Method: This research is a quantitative research with a Quasy Experiment With Control Group Design. The variables in this study are the independent variable, namely wet cupping at the Al Kahil point and the dependent variable, namely high blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension. Sampling is Non Probability Sampling with the Qouta Sampling technique Results: The results of bivariate analysis showed that the average decrease in systolic blood pressure was 15.13 and the significance of this difference was r (0.003) < α (0.05), as well as the average decrease in diastolic blood pressure was 14.05 with The significance results of these differences were obtained r (0.000) < α (0.05). Conclusion: From the results of the research above, it can be concluded that there is a difference in blood pressure reduction in the treatment group and the control group in elderly people with hypertension in Grobogan district
